Cohort Liaison – Quick Guide

(Applies to: Fall 2024 - Summer 2025 Cohort seasons)

1. What’s the Cohort Liaison?

  • Role: Student Ambassador of Craft – a peer mentor who focuses on workflow, study habits, and avoiding burnout.

  • Current Liaison: Julie Miette –experienced NMA student and YouTube Creator known for building strong daily art habits and sharing her learning journey online.

  • Scope: Practical support; no formal critique or grading.

2. What You Get

Welcome Video Once per cohort (posted after enrollment closes) Pinned in your private cohort Discord channel + email link.
Group “Craft Office Hours” 1× per month – 60 min live on Google Meet or Digital Campus Event posted in Digital Campus → Events tab; replay uploaded within 48 h.
Resource Drop As needed Gear checklists, study planners, and time-management tips shared in channel.

3. Typical Session Agenda

  1. Check-in poll – quick temperature read on workload & motivation.

  2. Mini-topic (10 min) – e.g., “Planning a plein-air kit” or “Time-boxing studies.”

  3. Open Q&A (40 min) – ask anything about assignments, scheduling, or study process.

  4. Next-step recap – key takeaways + dates for upcoming cohort milestones.

4. What the Liaison Doesn’t Do

  • No portfolio reviews or line-by-line drawing critique (see Live Classes or Mentorship for that).

  • No subscription, billing, or tech support – open a normal ticket for those issues.

  • No replacement for instructor-led content; Julie guides you in using the content efficiently.

5. How to Join a Session

  1. Open Digital Campus → Events and RSVP.

  2. A Discord Stage or Google Meet link is provided at least 15 minutes before start.

  3. Join on time; sessions are recorded. Replay + chat summary posted in the cohort channel.

6. Can’t Attend Live?

  • Watch the replay (video + timestamps).

  • Drop your question in #liaison-questions in the Cohort Dorms section of the Discord at least 24 h beforehand.

7. Contact

  • Routine questions: post in your cohort channel and tag Julie.

  • Private matters: DM Julie on Discord or email liaison@nma.art.
